GLP-1 and GIP therapies
GLP-1 receptor agonists mimic a natural gut hormone that signals fullness, slows how quickly the stomach empties and helps regulate blood sugar. Some newer therapies act on both GLP-1 and GIP receptors. These medications are typically started at a low dose and increased gradually to limit side effects such as nausea.
Oral prescription options
Not every patient is a candidate for injections. Providers may also consider oral medications that work on appetite, cravings or insulin sensitivity, alone or in combination, based on your health history.
Supportive nutrients
Some providers pair a weight program with vitamin B12 or lipotropic nutrients that play roles in energy metabolism. These support a plan; they are not weight loss treatments on their own.
Monitoring matters
Regular follow-up lets your provider track progress, side effects and lab values, and adjust dosing safely over time.
